This weekend 16 of us took part in the SA Rally at Mt Crawford. It was the most terrifying and exciting thing I have ever done.
We had fast long road sections (the same route as the rally cars) and tight technical forest sections. In the forest we had to keep an eye out for tiny little orange arrows which showed the way, whilst dodging tree's, stump's and log's. Some sections were so fast it was very easy to miss the arrow's and overshoot corners. One forest corner was missed by everyone so much we made a new corner the tree after the real one.
Day 1, Mando managed to stake his radiator with a branch. Bjorn almost tore the front off his quad, coming off second best with a tangle with a stump.
Day 2, Dave broke a tire rod but managed to get the quad back to the pits. Evan came off yet again (3rd time for the weekend) however luckily didn't damage his quad just his hand. It's been suggested that we wrap Ev in bubble wrap when he rides
Angaston Night Stages: Lisa, Brenton, Dominic & Ben took part in the night motard demonstrations at the oval. What a show they put on for the crowd.
Howie was on fire and apart from winning overall in the quad class, also took the 2nd fastest time overall out of the bikes & quads. I overheard one the 2 wheeler guys say 'That guy on the quad is crazy'. Maggots took 2nd for the day with Brenton Potts taking 3rd spot.
Well done to everyone who took part, we were an exciting welcome addition to the rally schedule. If we get invited to take part next year, I would highly recommend you give it a go.
